Road trip

Today we took off on a trip to Yamoussoukro and to Yves' parents village. Yves' parents, his sister-in-law Anik, us, a driver, two cars, and tWo walkie talkies. You may be asking yourself why a driver...I asked that question...and it's because there are a lot of holes in the road and they hired someone that knows the road. Okay no problem...we get on the only highway in the country...five minutes down the road and Yves walkies to ask us to not follow so close because of the holes...mind you there haven't been any yet...so I think the walkie thing is a little much...

Oh I should back upafter leaving. The house our driver mentioned that the break lights were non working on the car his dad wsa driving...so we stopped Totry and fix it but that didn't work out...

So anyway we are going along for a wile.....it is bumpy but not bad...then all of a sudden Mathieu and Yves are going back and forth navigating the craters (these were not your typical pot holes). To add to that the highway ends and turns into a two lane road...not just any two lane road but one with no place to stop if you break down, and as you might imagine breaking down on a road with craters is not uncommon. For example we saw Some strategicAlly placed dirt and plants on the side of the road. The driver was complaining that it means someone is stopped ahead to fix their car but often they don't clean it after. Then we Took the Corner only to see a big ass truck parked in the road. Needless to say the walkie talkies were useful when trying to pass trucks, lopsided busses, and avoid craters. More to come tomorrow as we venture north to the village...

Mathieu
